Actress Mindy Kaling confirmed she is pregnant with her first child in an interview on "Sunday Today" with Willie Geist.
In an interview that will air in full on Sept. 10, "The Mindy Project" star said she is "really excited" about motherhood and joked that she will be able to "openly criticize other parenting" now that she will have a child of her own.
Kaling also spoke about her relationship with her late mother, who offered support to her daughter throughout her career.
"My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did," Kaling said.
Besides upcoming motherhood, the actress is also preparing for the return of "The Mindy Project" for its sixth and final season, which will premiere on Sept. 12 on Hulu.
