Former "Glee" guest star Charice Pempengco announced on Twitter that he will now go by the name Jake Zyrus.
Zyrus, who gained fame for his portrayal of Sunshine Corazon on "Glee”, had openly contemplated his gender identity in the past. During a 2014 "Where Are They Now" special, he told Oprah Winfrey "My soul is male," but also noted, "I’m not going to go through that stage where I change everything. I’ll cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that’s all."
Zyrus appears to have fully embraced the decision, thanking supporters on social media for their support.
