Frances Bean Cobain paid tribute to her father, Kurt Cobain, with a note posted to Instagram for what would have been his 50th birthday. The Nirvana frontman died in 1994.

Cobain, who had mounting drug issues in the last years of his life, died of a shotgun wound to the head. His death was ruled a suicide.
Frances Bean, whose mother is musician and Cobain's former wife Courtney Love, was two years old when her father died.
